Friday 2nd March

Left school on time & had good journey, arriving in Dover with plenty of time for ferry depsite the M25.  Ferrys had a small delay due to fog & we were due to depart approx 830pm.  Actual departure was somewhat later due to the discovery of 2 illegal tigers (yes, Tigers!!) onboard.  Apparently they were being tranported to a circus in Europe.

Saturday 3rd March

Treked across the French countryside in convoy finally arriving at our hotel, Le Skilt, in Les Menuires in time for a hot lunch.  Afternoon spent unpacking, investigating & ski fit then dinner, quick journal time & early to bed.

Woke to amazing blue skies & very warm weather.

Childrens lessons 9 - 11 & then 12.30 - 2.30.  So early breakfast & then all outside to meet the instructors.  !st lesson was spent ensuring everyone was in the correct groups.

Some of our beginners - day 1 on the slopes

Afternoon lessons went well & everyone returned to the hotel with a smile on their face.

We had a birthday girl today so after a fun evening of bumboarding the children came in for a special treat of hot chocolate & birthday cake.

Monday 5th  March

Awoke to about 10cms of new snow,  overcast skies & much lower temperatures.  More clothes on today, breakfast & out for lessons at 9am.  Snow was lovely to ski on but it was quite foggy so poor visability - everyone had a good morning.  Pizza lunch went down very well & then out again for afternoon lessons - sun was trying to shine but the top of the mountain had no visability - another successful afternoon with everyone returning safely and lots of smiles.

Journal time every evening - some of the best work will be displayed after the trip

Tonights fun - Karaoke!!

Tuesday 6th March

Back to beautiful blue skies today but very cold air temperatures.  Today saw our beginners successfully completing a blue run.

Evening entertainment - some fun & games outside followed by a quick tour of the shops & then back for crepes.

Wednesday 7th March

Another beautiful day - suncream all round.  The children all progressing - our top group taking on some very icy moguls on a red run & then doing it all again!!!

Tonight  - Mr Bridges'  infamous quiz night followed by cheese & wine tasting for our adults.

Thursday 8th March

One of our groups with their instructor

We woke to very overcast skies & snow today.  Conditions very poor - couldn't even see the chair lift in front of us!!

Blog from Kit Walker (6LK)

Today, Wednesday 7th March, the weather at the top of the lift was extremely foggy and sitting on the chair lift for fifteen minutes made you quite cold. The skiing was really good as there were not many people on the slopes. Our instructor taught us some tricks to keep us warm, like planting your poles and swinging your arms back and forth to make your blood flow. For lunch we had jacket potato with a choice of baked beans and cheese or potato salad. In the afternoon the weather was colder and foggier than in the morning. We took La Becca chair lift up to the top of all the boarder/ski cross but as it was foggy they were closed and we were not allowed to go on them.

Friday 9th March

Final day was beautiful blue skies again & very warm.  A fabulous days skiing followed by certificates & badges awarded to each child by their instructor.

The staff awarded their certificates before dinner & then we headed for Calais leaving the hotel at 7.45pm.

Saturday 10th March

Arrived back at school 10.30am.
